ILLUSTRATIONS
 

LatzáInk started, like a lot of things during the pandemic, with a search for a distraction. I began exploring illustration styles and fell in love with the work of Eric Carle and Clare Youngs as their sense of texture and playfulness inspired me.

Around the same time, my mother-in-law Peg started experimenting with alcohol ink, and ended up teaching my daughters, Isabella and Natalie, how to paint with it too. Watching what the three of them were creating, I saw a way to bring their alcohol ink art into my own illustrations — scanning their pieces and weaving them into my work to create the whimsical style that's become my signature.

The name LatzáInk

My husband's grandmother's maiden name was Latzá. It felt like the perfect name for our family business — it carries a piece of family history, and it also happens to describe how much ink ends up covering our studio table.
